4 Days Old

Zack is a very sweet little thing. He has been sleeping and eating a ton. He has been eating every 1-2 hours. My milk came in yesterday so he had a few longer stretches and hopefully it will continue to get more consistently in the 2-3...lots of feeding.

We went for his doctor's appointment yesterday and he is weighing in at 7 lbs. 1 oz and besides his jaundice, he is very healthy. We had to draw blood, which is horrible to watch him cry in pain, and the doctor said his levels are still high but no need to get him light therapy just yet. I have to take him back tomorrow to draw blood again and see if his levels have decreased yet.

Big Sister

This could possibly have been one of out saddest family moments. Abby came into the hospital room with my dad and saw Matt and I holding Zack and she immediately looked so sad. We totally underestimated the capability of what emotions she could experience. Her quivering lip and sad eyes told us she felt betrayed. We left her for two days and we had a little baby now. This sad face says it all.

Luckily, she quickly saw that she was not being left out and Abby is adjusting pretty well. The first day was tough and she was very needy and difficult but she is getting back into her schedule and used to us around and having lots of attention from G&G helps. I have been trying to make sure I give her lots of special attention to and put her to bed every night to make sure she doesn't feel left out. She loves to give Zack kisses and it is a good way for her to get positive attention. Today she tried to give him some fist bumps and put his pacifier (yes, I gave him the pacifier already-he is a suck -a-holic) in for him. She seems so big to me all of a sudden. It as like she grew up over night!

Zack was born on April 8th 2010 at 5:29 p.m. Luckily, it was a fairly effortless delivery and he is happy and healthy!

Matt and I arrived at the hospital at 6 a.m. and I was given pitocin around 8:30 a.m. We enjoyed some trashy reality tv during the day while we were waiting for the contractions to start. Around noon, they broke my water and I got the epidural and things progressed from there fairly easily.

About 5:15 they called the doctor down and shortly after she arrived. He was born three pushes later!

Grandma & Grandpa Hughes Are Here!

We picked Grandma and Grandpa Hughes up at the airport on Tuesday. We are loving having them here. After our traditional Auntie Pasta's lunch on the way home from the airport we met Matt at KoOlina (someone had to work)for an afternoon walk.

We ran into Lisa on the walk and all it took was a few minutes for me to take my eyes off Abby and Grandma before they had made their way from the walking path down to the sand and in the water. Clothed of course!

Easter

Our annual picnic at Ho'Olomohia got rained out today but we ended up at the Hoffman's and had a great day. The kids hunted for Easter eggs and found out how to get the candy out. Just as we sat them down to get a group picture Abby, the messiest kid alive, started drooling red jellybean slobber all over her pretty new Easter dress...go figure! We got some cute pictures anyway.

The Longest Weekend Ever!

Well, normally I am all for long weekends but this one has been killer. To begin with I am anxiously awaiting Zack's arrival and that has put me on edge. On Friday, I decided to take Abby out to "run some errands" a.k.a shopping. and I got through my first trip to stock up on Easter goods and was on my way to Old Navy to return some things. On the off ramp we were stopped at a light and I turned back to talk to Abby and when I looked forward something made me think that the traffic was moving..well it wasn't! I rear ended another car. Luckily, we were all okay but my car wasn't drivable. End of shopping trip, beginning of crappy day. Matt came to rescue us and the tow truck took my car away. I have a rental car that has proved to be a a comedy of errors anytime we try to go anywhere. When you are used to having an SUV to fit everything in it is a difficult transition to a car where the stroller doesn't even fit in the truck....saga to be continued.

Saturday, we drove to Pearlridge mall to get Matt's ID renewed so he could drive the rental car (you know in case I go into labor) only to find out that after waiting in line for and 1:15 minutes that the rental car place closed just before we got there. Another day waiting...

Finally, Easter! I was happy to make it to today since I wanted to see Abby hunt for eggs and I was afraid of her being orphaned if we were in the hospital on Easter. I know it would have bothered me more than her-but still. After driving to Kaneohe, the other side of the island, for our annual picnic we turned around and headed back for Easter at the Hoffman's due to the rain. Thanks Matt and Jenn for hosting us all!

I never thought I would be so happy to have a weekend be over. My parents get here on Tuesday and my anxiety about having Abby bounce around and friends having to juggle their schedules to accommodate her while we are in the hospital is slowly subsiding as her grandparents' arrival is getting closer. AHHH:)

9 Months

The countdown is officially on! We are 4 days from my due date and ready to meet our little man. Matt, Abby and I walked down tot eh beach and had an impromptu belly photo shoot.
