Tide Pools, Corvette Diner, and Planes

After a low key morning we checked out the tide pools at the Cabrillo Monument.  The scenery was perfect and we saw some sea urchins, hermit crabs trekked all across the pools.

We all made it across some rocks the a sea cave and climbed their out way out.  The kids were so brave and did great!

After the tide pools we went to CorvetteDiner for diner.  I hadn't been there for almost 20 years ( I start to feel very old when I say things like that...).  It was a great place for the kids with lots of entertainment and delicious shakes!

They got Batman and Ariel balloons and played some games.

Since we were close to the airport we took another quick detour to watch the planes land at the top of a parking garage right at the edge of the runway.

The kids loved it! They were so close and we could watch them come in and land from one spot.

Moon Festival

Our neighbors had a Moon party on Friday- the full moon was o nThursday but Friday was more convenient for a party.    We had lots of yummy food and kids ran all around the cul-de-sac.  Once it we had a neighborhood "moon walk" with their lanterns, a Chinese custom and a neighborhood tradition.

Date Night at the Melting Pot

We had a Groupon for the Melting Pot and got the kids all excited to go and when we got there they were full!  We were all pretty disappointed about missing out on fondue so we made reservations and headed back the following weekend.

The cheese was a hit.  ABby figured it out right away.

We all enjoyed the spread for the main course and only had a few pieces that needed rescuing.

The grand finale was the chocolate fondue for dessert.

We had a many sweets to dip and the kids devoured them.  They were so wound up on sugar they were literally screaming on the way home.

Successful date night with the kiddos!

Best Buddies

A & Z are so good to each other and a perfect pair 90 % of the time... They are asleep right now and all is peaceful so that may be high but it sounds good for now.  We were at my parents' house for a BBQ and they brought out their bear chairs and books on their own.  I love seeing them love reading.

Another precious moment of these two crazy kiddos.  They crack themselves up and love to goof around with silly voices and made up stories.

One night last week we were reading bedtime stories Zack wanted to read the book by himself and Abby let him without interrupting!  I had to grab the phone to record as soon as he started.  It is such a perfect glimpse into their interactions.  There are so many things that I love about this video and how the two of them are together...most of the time:).

Ahoy Matey

The kids have been wanting to see "handsome historic ships"  since it is in the Good Night San Diego book.  The day we decided to go down for a low key visit there was big festival and all the ships were open.  The kids got to explore some old ships and even go in a submarine...I have no idea how people can live in such small places!  It was another super hot day but much nicer by the water and fun to explore but Abby reminded me that we still haven't seen an aircraft carrier.
