House Update

We moved back in the house 2 weeks ago after 1 MONTH in the hotel.  The kids have been so adaptable but now they aren't really convinced that we actually plan to live in this house for a long time.  They call it the flooded house and want to go back to the hotel where you can get bagels every morning.

The day before we moved back in the house, Matt and my friend Courtney's husband, who is a contractor, demoed the kitchen.  It took a while to get insurance figured out and it just worked out that by the time we could move back in they were actually ready to being to work on the kitchen...go figure.

Our neighbors have got to love us!  A storage unit and a ton of trash on our driveway.

The garage is full of furniture and cabinets.

When we got home we quickly unpacked our table to eat at and have otherwise camped out in our house.

The upside of being home is we all have bedrooms and plenty of rooms upstairs.  The downside is we never got around to furnishing the extra room it in the month we actually lived in the house.  We moved the ottoman from our couch upstairs and we use it as our couch.  Good thing we all like to snuggle!

Matt and Josh put in the floors and the baseboards.  They look great!

The tile in the kitchen and bathroom is almost finished and then we can at least put the majority of the furniture back but it looks like we will be without a kitchen for at least another month:). Luckily, it has been working out fine.  We eat a lot of take out but it's all good!

Christmas with the Zanes

I almost got caught up with our Christmas trip to Pennsylvania before life got extra crazy around here. There is one last very special event that I can't forget to blog about. We drove to see Great Grandma Zane and the rest if the Zane family outside of Philadelphia.

It was a wonderful day and it snowed just enough to make it gorgeous but not enough to impact the drive. The kids got to play with their closest cousins (even though they are actually 2nd cousins or something like that).

Great Grandma Zane with 5 of her 6 great grandchildren

Most of the Martin family- missing Casey and Rob ( would have been great if the kids could have taken their hands out of their mouths!)

Abby, Dylan and Zack had a blast with Uncle Bill (Matt's cousin) spinning them around.

Easter Fun-2013

We started celebrating Easter last weekend.  Our neighborhood had the annual Easter Egg hunt and block party.  We didn't really know what to expect, since this was our first block party, nor did we realize how many kids were on our street!  Zack missed the picture and egg hunt because he was taking a once in a blue moon a 4 hour nap:).

Abby had fun hinting for eggs and eating all her candy!

Once it got dark they put on a movie.  The kids loved it and happily sat through most of it.  Zack headed in with Matt towards the end.

Both kids had Easter egg hunts at school and made lots of funny craft to celebrate.  Their teachers are amazing!

We figured out you can boil water in a skillet so we could hard boil eggs and dye them.

The Easter Bunny made a visit to the Farmer's market, which made it very easy to see him without long lines  or much hassle at all.

Since out kitchen is in the process of being tiled we borrowed G & Gs house for coloring the eggs.

The Easter bunny left a trail from the kids' rooms to their baskets.  Zack found it first and was so excited to wake up to jelly beans.  Abby was shocked and then very happy.

Morning sugar high...

Zack was literally running in circles.

After a few too many jelly beans we had a real breakfast and headed to my parents' church.  The kids did surprisingly well sitting through the adult service.
silly faces!

After church we spent the day at 15th street in Del Mar.  The weather was perfect and we played in the sand and waded in the water...it is definitely not Hawaii water!

This water bucket was supposed to be a birthday present for Zack but I found him playing with it in my closet so I figured today I might as well give it to him for our beach day.  I was glad I did because he payed with it all day.

Happy Easter!

Lately...

I have lost track of when anything has happened but according to the pictures on my phone here is what has been happening lately...

The kids and I met Matt after work one Friday afternoon in Ocean Beach for a sunset and pizza.

We went to Home Depot's monthly workshop to build race cars.   It is pretty cool that they do this monthly. Looking forward to next months project.

We have been meeting up with my parents and Andy for Taco Tuesdays.
Taking advantage of the amenities while living in the hotel.

 Happy St. Patrick's day

Abby getting a much needed trim:)

Playing Tic Tac Toe while I was ordering at Jersey Mike's

The kids didn't have preschool one day last week so they came to work with me and we visited  Grandma at school on the way home.  A & Z jumped right with the 1st graders at PE.

We took the kids to see the Croods last weekend when it opened.  It was a perfect family date night!
Washing their toys AKA making a mess with water and soap but having a blast!

Breakfast with Grandpa Don & Grandma Lori

We got back in the house somewhere through the month and you can see parts of the destruction aside from new floor:).  Looks like Abby was so excited for Play-doh she forgot to take her helmet off after riding her bike.
