Fletcher's Cove

After a few rainy days we took advantage of the sunshine at Fletcher's Cover, one of our favorite beaches.  The kids wanted to carry the chairs...it last a few minute before they got too heavy:).

It was another beautiful and relaxing day at the beach for all!

We got suckered into getting treats from the ice cream man.  He came just as we were cleaning up and getting ready to go and it sounded too good to pass up.

Happy 34th, Matt!

To kick off the birthday week, Matt and I went to Tom Hamm's Lighthouse for an amazing crab leg brunch buffet.  We had a great booth overlooking the water  and downtown.

On Matt's birthday we both were able to get off work by 3 and we met for a quick happy hour at Ballast Point on our way home to celebrate and then went out for sushi with the kiddos.

After dinner my parents came over for cake and presents.  I think we all enjoyed the week celebrating Matt. We hope it is a fabulous year. xoxo

March Madness

March was full of adventures and fun in the Martin household.  We have an extra hour in the day now which I love but it also means that we are all going to bed at least an hour later and missing out on some sleep.

Abby has been very motivated to write and her invented spelling is so cute.  She was making a sign for a trap she made for the robbers.  Her sing says, "only 4 robbers"

I was playing with my camera out back since I had to take pictures of Abby's Tball team and it had been in the bag for quite a while....

They had bounce houses and lots of activities for the opening day of the softball season. Abby and Grandma had fun on the slide.

Matt had to work late so the kids ans I stopped to grab dinner while we waited for Zack's haircut.

Grandma picked the kids up after school one day and brought them to her classroom.  They had a ball playing with all the school supplies.  Zack loved stapling!

Abby's dance class has moved to the bar.  The girls are all becoming good friends and have lots of fun together!

Matt and Zack spent some time playing in a lake near the house one Saturday afternoon while Abby and I were at a birthday party.

Movie night snuggles... a family favorite.  Matt had to chaperone a school dance and we sent him pictures of what he was missing out on:).

Grandma Lori bought Abby a new outfit- shoes and all.  She loves it:)

We got all dressed in out green for St. Partick's day.

Last weekend we packed up a picnic and spent the afternoon at the Bernardo winery.  It is a beautiful place with a band for some entertainment and tons of space for the kids to run around.

We finally got around to visiting "Get Air" a trampoline park close to the house.  We bounced for an hour solid and had a blast.  I may have had more fun than the kids:)

Rainy Days

We finally got some rain in San Diego and after school, we pulled into the driveway Abby asked if they could play in the rain.  I said, ok.  Then she said, "pleeeease, can we play it the rain?"  I looked at her and told her I just said okay.... She turned and said, "Oh!  I totally didn't expect that!?"

They had a blast danced in the rain (and gutter water) to their heart's content

Yes, Zack took his shoes off, filled them with water and dumped dirty rain water over his head and loved it.

As much as I don't love the rain..it is fun ever now and then and we really need it!  I guess I could handle a few more rainy days.

The kids often end up right next to each other snuggling.

After  a low key weekend morning, we decided on Nickel City for an indoor activity.  I was not sold but it turned out to be really fun for everyone!

After we spent all our nickels we did some shopping in Carmel Mtn. Ranch.

Purple Penguins

After seeing all the girls in the neighborhood play last year, Abby decided to sign up for Tball this year.  She just made the cutoff which means all the girls are in Kindergarten except for Abby but it hasn't been an issue thankfully.  The girls practiced for a few weeks and now it is all games.  The coaches are so amazing with the girls and seem to have infinite patience!  The team has shown great improvement.

The first game was adorable but quite a learning experience.  Batting, running, paying attention, catching, throwing oh and paying attention... It was a lot to handle for the girls but they looked super cute and tried their best.

Our house is less than a mile from the field so the boys showed up in style.

Matt is the bench coach and is doing a great job getting the girls organized and cheering!  It is so cute.

Abby is really loving tball and she is learning so much.

She really wants to hit the ball hard and get it to the outfield so she take a few practice swings to line it up and really concentrates.  She is doing quite well connecting with the ball.

She is starting to get the hang of running the bases and running on her own without reminders:).

The clean up batter each inning is the home run hitter.  All the girls wait at home as they clear the bases to celebrate.  There has been one out in 4 games but they don't actually count them.  It really is about getting the girls to enjoy the game and learn the basics.  it is working because Abby told me today that she loves the games!

Zack has fun climbing fences or running around.  He has been such a good sport and enjoyed the freedom to explore while we watch the game:)

The opening day parade with all the softball teams through high school.
