Mother's Day 2013

Matt has quite a track record of making mother's day a very special event.  The last 2 years he has hosted a mother's day brunch and spoiled us rotten with yummy food and lots of mimosas!  I was definitely missing my favorite mommas and our fun day together but Matt out did himself this year.

First, I got to go to school with the kids and have a special breakfast with them in their classrooms.  Their teachers did such  a nice job and they made the cutest gifts!

We also made a special trip up to the garden to see each of their class plots.

And a silly picture of me and my love bugs.

A & Z are the best and I tell them every day that I am the luckiest mommy ever. I hope they always remember that.

Speaking of lucky, Matt planned a weekend trip to Mexico for Mother's day. We both took off early from work and headed south.  My parents took the kids and was a win-win for all.  It is the first time we have been to Mexico for at least 5 years.  I was a little nervous but it was a perfect trip!  We stopped in Puerto Nuevo for lobster tacos.  They never disappoint.  We did, however, forget how obnoxious the street vendors are, but it is all part of Mexico.

We arrived in La Via Del Valle, our quiet little bed and breakfast in the Guadalupe Valley, inland of Ensenada.  We spent the weekend UNPLUGGED.  It was so nice to not have the option of TV, or phones, or computers.  We walked in the vineyards, read, relaxed and enjoyed great food and wine.  After the chaos of this year it was really nice!
exploring the grounds

Breakfast was not served until 9 so we got up had coffee and relaxed until it was time for breakfast.  The food was so good and made from all local, organic ingredients.

The view from breakfast.

We spent day 2 wine tasting in the local wineries.. You may be thinking what I was...they have wineries in Mexico??? Well, they do and they are actually really good and breathtakingly beautiful!

And we spent the rest of out time relaxing some more:)

After breakfast on Sunday we packed up and headed home to see the kiddos.  I spent mother's day just hanging out with the kids outside and enjoying their joy.

Auntie Casey & Uncle Rob come to San Diego

We found out that Casey and Rob would be performing at a Ren Faire about 20 minutes from our house and were lucky enough that they could stay with us for a night.  They are extremely busy and traveling all over the world for shows so it was a treat to have them!  The kids were so excited to see them and it was really nice to hang out with them.  Unfortunately, we still didn't have a kitchen or backyard when they were here but they were very easy going and understanding!  Luckily there is lots of excitement in the front yard!  Our neighborhood actually had a little get together, including a potluck and an outdoor movie night.  They go the full on suburban experience.

Matt always likes to try and kill himself attempting Casey's newest acts.

Movie night across the street

On Saturday, we got to see Casey and Rob perform.  They are really talented and bring in quite a crowd compared to the rest of the acts.  It is really fun to see them in their element.

Another motion picture...still not sure if I could do this if I tried but I like it!

Abby sat across from the entire audience and watched the show up close.  I am pretty sure the only reason she was allowed to stay there is because she is near and dear to Casey and Rob.  As you can see, she loved it!

Friends Forever

I got a text from Michelle that she was in town and immediately figured out how to get together!  The weather was perfect and we planned a picnic at 15th street in Del Mar.  The kids played like they had known each other for years and it was beyond amazing to see my dearest friend of almost 30 years (that statement officially make me OLD!) and watch our kids run hand in hand to the water and back, climb trees, and dig in the sand like we used too.  I can't wait for their dance concerts to the latest boy band...

I am not exactly sure how I did this but I think it totally captures the essence of the little ones....busy!

Some more picture of the kids and the beautiful scenery.

Rollin...

The kids have been getting their experience riding and rolling on lots of new toys.
A few weeks ago we spent the day in Coronado riding bikes and the kids sat in the bike trailer.  It worked out really well but maybe that is because Matt hauled them and I just rode around:)

Grandma and Grandpa took the kids to the flower fileds and they took a wagon ride.

Abby got a new balance bike and loves it!  Within a month she was riding a regular bike without training wheels.  So far so good but she is crazy on wheels...

This was her first attempt at riding a bike and she just kept going!

Here is a link to the video of her first ride if you missed it on fb.

When Daddy's Away...

Mommy and Abby and Zack play.

Silly faces to send to daddy:)

My beautiful ballerina.

Saturday morning bagels-one of our favorites.

Catching up on a little reading.  BTW, this girl rarely wears clothes indoors these days!

Abby has quit biting her nails and we were very proud of her.  I had a gift certificate for a mani/ pedi that I was itching to use so Abby and I went for a little date to get our nails done.  She picked out this obnoxious green and I managed to get her to compromise with an equally obnoxious pink for both of us.  As I was getting my nails painted barbie doll pink I look over and Abby had convinced the nail tech to go back and get her original green!

Zack drawing race cars:)

Happy Birthday, Zack

It is hard to believe that 3 year ( and a few weeks..) ago we were in the hospital with our baby boy and he has quickly grown to be such a big boy.

Words cannot simply do this little boy justice!  He constantly cracks us up with his silly faces and subtle humor.  He has a way about him that makes it very hard not to laugh when he is naughty and he clearly knows how to get his way!  We like to call him Zacky, Zacaroni, Zack Attack but he insists he is just Zack.
Like many little boys he loves his legos and building.  He is obsessed with Lightning McQueen and all race cars.  For his birthday he got many lego sets and loves making cars and building anything he can dream.

Grandma Lori & Grandpa Don came over for cake and some puzzles for Z's birthday and believe it or not we (Matt, my mom, and I) actually struggled helping the kids with this puzzle...we needed Grandma Martin!
 More legos...

A very happy birthday boy!  We love you, buddy, to the moon and back.

May all your wishes come true now and always.
