Zack's 4th Birthday Party

We have been fortunate to get to know the families in Zack's class at school and thought it would be fun to have all the families over for his birthday party.  Well, it was fun but definitely crazy to have  25 kids in our backyard plus parents.

Zack wanted a Jake and the Neverland Pirate theme to celebrate turning 4.

We definitely had a full house.

Zack had a great time celebrating with his friends.

Zack's 4th Birthday

It seems like forever ago that Zack turned 4 but better late than never, right!  

We woke up began the day by opening presents. 

He was so excited to get lots of Jake and the Neverland Pirate stuff.

He also got a great marble set from G & G Martin.  He loves playing with it!

I offered to take him out for breakfast but he wanted to stay home and requested cinnamon rolls.

When we woke up the house was covered with penguins.  The kids loves arranging them throughout the day.

After celebrating at school we met up with daddy at Corvette Diner.  Of course we had to get a chocolate shake to celebrate!

After dinner the kids played with the marbles for a bit before bed,

Libelle Ct. Annual Egg Hunt

Last year we had just moved back into our house after the flood and had our old demolished kitchen and all of our belongings in a trailer on our driveway and it was the first time we had met many of the neighbors. I felt like I was visiting.  What a difference a year makes. This year it feels like home.  Our kids are an integral part of the neighborhood and it was so much fun to be part of this yearly tradition.

All the kids played some games while the adults hid the eggs then they let the littles got a head start in the hunting.



Zack slept through last year's hunt and was so excited to hunt for eggs this year.  That is all he wanted to do for the next 2 weeks!

Abby was a trooper!  Zack (and a heavy chair) fell on her foot in the morning and she was hobbling along during the hunt and the rest of the week.

Circus Circus

After our 4 hour drive we arrived at Circus Circus and got to take showers...don't do the math, please! After we all had a chance to freshen up  we explored the grounds.  

The Circus Circus has a huge game area and there was a whole section perfect for Abby & Zack.  They played a few games of air hockey and were so thrilled that they could do it all by themselves.

I could have sat and watched this all night long!

We made a reservation for dinner not realizing it was such a nice steak house but it was quite a nice treat after camping!  

After dinner we went miniature golfing.

After G & G went to bed, we took the kids to play some games ( it's Vegas, right?!).  Zack got the ball in the cup on the first try and now he thinks you win a prize every time you play a game.

This game taught him that wasn't the case!

Another ride on a roller coaster

The next day we took the monorail around and explored Vegas mostly from afar but we went into a few hotels.  Circus Circus was the perfect place to stay with the kids and the trip turned out to be a wonderful balance with camping 2 nights and the last night in Vegas...and then a short drive home.

Zion Canyon Overlook Trail-Day 3

The only other hike that we wanted to attempt was the Canyon Overlook Trail.  I wasn't really sure what to expect and kind of glad that I didn't investigate before hand.  It was amazing but we got pretty close to the edge of cliffs a few times!

I didn't take the following 3 pictures and found them on blogs about Zion since we didn't get pictures from the bridge.

This is a picture of what most of the trail looked like.  The kids were great hikers!

After we hiked up the mountain, we made our own path and went down into the canyon.  The kids loved the little caves filled with sand tucked away.

After our final hike we packed up and headed out to Vegas.
