Abby's in Kindergarten!
But of course it was just another opportunity to hag out with her friends she already has, especially Tyrah. Abby and Tyrah have been really good friends/ frenemies since they were 3 in Mrs. Nancy's class at Discovery Isle.
The Friday before school started we had an orientation and found out her teacher and classmates. We were very happy with her teacher and Abby and Tyrah were overjoyed to be in the same class!
Abby's first day of school was September 2, 2014! She was super excited for school and has continued to enjoy it! The sign says the rest.
Matt and I took off the morning to take her in. It was quite an adventure seeing all the parents and kids. I think there are about 700 kids and probably 1400 parents!
They set up the red carpet for the kids on the first day. It was so cute. Now I am just waiting for my chance to walk on a red carpet!
Of course, we saw Tyrah, and we were soon non-existent.
I had all these grand assumptions that we would walk in and spend the morning in her class. To my surprise, this was the last we saw of her. They were ushered in after this picture. Thankfully, Abby turned around to give us hugs before she made it all the way in to the big Kindergarten abyss.
It a new era for our baby girl! We are so proud of her and enjoying seeing her grow! Just yesterday she was a cute little baby and is so quickly becoming a big girl.

August...I think?
Since it is now October I am trying to catch up and I think these things happened in August but I am not completely sure.
Dinner with the Dennys went a little late for the kids.
Matt and I snuck off to the races one afternoon while the kids were with my parents. It is always fun to be at the track.
When my mom was watching the kids she brought them to visit me at work. They had fun playing around in my office and cruising the halls of USD while it was empty since the semester hadn't started yet,
After we took the kids to SeaWorld. It is so nice being able to go for a few hours later in the day.
My dad got us tickets to the Padres game and we took my boss, Rich. It was a fun night cheering on the Padres!
And we got to see Jack too! It was a busy weekend but I can never pass up an opportunity to see Jack and the Archards!
A cute picture on a random evening likely in August:).
Palm Springs Getaway
After a long week of work while Matt and the kids played, I was in need of some quality family time. Matt called me at work and suggested we headed out to Palm Springs for the weekend....it was so needed and so thoughtful. I was home in 30 minutes and within an 1 hour we were on the road to the desert. We booked the hotel on the road and ended up staying at the Riviera.
The kids loved the fancy chairs and chandeliers.
We swan for 2 days straight every chance we got. The kids are really getting to be quite independent in the pool.
We went out to dinner for some yummy Mexican food and walked around the town enjoying the scenery.
We got a special cereal since we were on vacation- which pretty much means dessert for breakfast.
Not a bad view for breakfast.
It was a great trip and I can't wait to go back!
Zack's 4 1/2 Year Update
Since we finally made it to the doctor just in time for Z's half birthday, I figured it would be a good time for an update on our sweet little guy.
The stats:
4 1/2 years old
35 lbs (24th %)
41.5 inches ( 9th%)
The fun stuff:
He LOVES turtles, I mean really loves turtles. Every time he sees one (like a picture or cartoon or stuffed animal) he squeals with delight and requests to read one of his numerous turtles books each night for bedtime stories. He's hoping that santa might bring one for Christmas...we aren't so sure yet.
He continues to be very independent and will play in the morning before we get up and loves to play in his room when he is supposed to be sleeping. We are usually fine with it as long as he stays in his room and he is quiet. When he is ready for bed he goes to sleep and sometimes in the craziest positions. He still has to "sleep" at preschool during nap time but since he hasn't napped for 2 years he just sits quietly. Not surprisingly this is not his favorite time of the day.
Zack says he wants to be a daddy and usually wants about 60 kids- that he thinks will sleep in mommy & daddy's room...HA! He also wants to be an engineer and doesn't understand why he can't just go to engineer school and build instead of preschool where he has to write his name SOOOOOOO much (at least according to him).
Z's quirky sense of humor and playfulness keep us entertained constantly!
Z loves babies and is so sweet with them. This handsome boy with Zack is baby Elliott Altick, Michelle's little guy.
Zack also loves to take care of all his own "babies" which are his stuffed animals that he is very particular about.

A few weeks ago he learned how to ride his bike without training wheels. Abby and I were at soccer practice and Matt sent me a video of Z riding his bike! So far so good- he has been cruising along with no falls:)
Riding to the park still with training wheels a few weeks before.
Z loves babies and is so sweet with them. This handsome boy with Zack is baby Elliott Altick, Michelle's little guy.

Our growing boy is 41 1/2 inches officially, which means that with shoes and some spiky hair he is unofficially 42 inches and can ride most rides in California.
Z and i on his first ride on at Atlantis at SeaWorld. Thankfully it was hot out because we got soaked!
We are often surprised by his independence and thoughtfulness. One afternoon Z asked if he could vacuum and actually did a great job cleaning all the floors.
We got a mini birthday cake to celebrate Zack's half birthday! Both kids certainly enjoyed it:)
