An Unexpected Weekend Downtown

I am trying to catch up with the last month before I can't remember any of it:).

After the  flood we booked a hotel downtown so we could at least our time spent in a hotel in a nice location.  Our first night we went out for Thai food, a family favorite, and ended the evening swimming in the heated hotel pool.  It was really fun to see the kids back in the water after too long!

On Sunday we found some trails to hike around Balboa Park and explored all day.

There is something so captivating about this fountain for the kids.  They love it and I fumbled for my camera as they ran to it holding hands.  Luckily, I got it in time. They were so cute!

Since Zack is totally obsessed with trains ( and planes and automobiles) these days we made the trek across the park to the train.  I tried to be a good sport when Abby picked the Zebra to sit with instead of me:(.

After a great weekend trying to ignore the fact that our house was under water, I took the kids to my parents and Matt and I went out for an early Valentine's Day dinner.  We went to the Melting Pot,a fondue restaurant that was really good.  Looking back, a month later,  it was so nice to be able to enjoy a nice night out before the craziness.
